Are You Quick Enough to Keep Up?

OctoRhythm is a reaction-based rhythm game developed with the Leap Motion Controller in mind. Immerse yourself in 4 captivating game modes, Memorize symbols in sequence and repeat (or defeat) each gesture to a pulse-pounding background beat. It may start easy, but as the game progresses the difficulty can become insane!

Features
  • Unlock new levels & game modes as you play!
  • 4 game modes, totalling 48 levels! Can you get 3 stars on all of them?
  • Completely original soundtrack featuring 10 songs by composer Leo Perantoni!
  • Easy to learn, difficult to master!
  • Take advantage of the Leap's unique tracking capabilities!
Game Modes

Flow

  • In flow mode, you must match the symbols that flow in a stream with your hands. The more you get right, the better! Anyone can play, but can you get to 200 BPM?

Jo-Ken-Po

  • Similar to flow, but instead of matching the symbols, you must beat them in a Rock-Paper-Scissors match! If you've ever wanted to know what it's like to play Rock-Paper-Scissors with both hands 185 times a minute, this is the game mode for you!

Simon Says

  • In this mode, you must memorize a sequence of symbols and then repeat them to the beat. Test your memory and your skill!

Hardcore

  • Only for the strongest players: you must memorize the symbol sequence and beat it in a Rock-Paper-Scissors match! This task is not for the faint of heart!

What's New

Version 1.0.4
In this update:
  • Improved symbol detection
  • Tutorials on the best way to do each symbol
  • "Knuckle remover": now your knuckles aren't detected as fingers anymore, therefore, less misdetections when doing the "rock" symbol
  • "Grace Frames": if you miss the beat just by a tiiiny little bit, no problem! We'll count your symbol as correct!

We're still tuning the grace period and other features, so feel free to get in touch and tell us what you think!

Fixed
  • No more stars if you fail the level
  • Profile reset instructions on the credits screen

... yes, that's right. Just as so many others have said, it doesn't consistently recognize the circular motion required to play the game. In this first 2 levels, the game had rapidly grown on me to become a favorite in only a few minutes. I was also thinking of all the wonderful therapeutic benefits this game could offer, for rehabililtation, PT, OT, special needs, all sorts of things. And then I made it to level 3, which introduced a circular gesture, and the game became unplayable.

Fairly simple game, executed reasonably well. Like others have mentioned, it seems to struggle with the circular gesture.

This could've been a great game, one of the best for the leap, but sadly, the leap fails to pick up the circles. For almost 4 dollars, I would've expected less hard actions for the leap to actually pick up!
