Virtual 3D Glue between Your Synths and Your Fingers

What does AeroMIDI do?

AeroMIDI allows you to use your hands in 3D space to trigger notes and MIDI continuous controller messages. AeroMIDI works with any MIDI software or hardware! Control synthesizers, lighting rigs, DAWs, effects, virtual instruments, and any other MIDI-capable hardware or software with AeroMIDI!

Ever had the desire to control more than two knobs at a time? With AeroMIDI, you can control six expression parameters with just one hand. Or use both hands and control 12 expression parameters at one time. Add in cubes or zones and you can trigger events, beats or notes. Perform a gesture, such as a two-fingered swipe to the left and, suddenly, you have a whole new mode or set of expression controls and MIDI actions.

AeroMIDI is the virtual 3D glue between your music and your hands.. Prepare to create and shape music in a whole new way.

Features
  • Move and rotate your hand & finger movements into MIDI with incredibly low latency.
  • Play notes by triggering 3D zones.
  • Perform gestures to send MIDI data or switch modes.
  • Configurable 3D cubes let you build your own custom controller interface.
  • Simultaneously control MIDI expression parameters in the three dimensions (left to right, front to back and top to bottom)
  • Control MIDI expression by rotating your hand around the three axes (roll, pitch and yaw)
  • Works with any MIDI software or MIDI hardware

Use examples include:

  • Starting and stopping (retriggering) music loops.
  • Beat juggling by moving or rotating your hands.
  • Controlling any synthesizer or effect parameters such as resonance, glide or a dubstep wobble.
  • Control MIDI enabled lighting equipment and visualizers.
  • Playing notes and chords

What's New

Version 1.1
Release notes

Please make sure to run the AeroMIDI dependency MIDI driver installer. AeroMIDI needs this in order to talk to other MIDI software!

#Changes in 1.1

  • Fix for selecting with the selection rectangle. (Was not always selecting the cubes, even though they appeared to be selected.)
  • Drawing palms transparent for 5 seconds after removing a finger from the cube. This is less distracting.
  • Added meters on the status bar so that it is easier to see where the various parameters are.
  • Was able to click through the windows on to other buttons
  • Can now toggle click action cards to bring their interface up or close it.
  • Fixed the Ableton training bug which relied on AeroMIDI sending CC messages with different values.

#Changes in 1.0
This is a major update! AeroMIDI now tracks your hands and gestures via "Action Cards".

  • Gestures trigger actions
  • Left/Right hand movements in X,Y,Z, Yaw,Pitch,Roll to MIDI messages
  • Create scales or chords to play along any axis.
  • New fixed camera mode
  • MIDI Thru support
  • Old camera mode available in the settings. Also try the Oculus Rift mode, for those with an Oculus.
  • New easy cube mode that makes it easier to trigger a cube.
  • Much more!
Changes in 0.94
  • Exit cube message now works properly. It was mistakenly firing the enter cube setting.
  • Duplicate midi messages when clicking the status bar keyboard now fixed.
  • Now offsetting cubes when they are duplicated. (Towards the camera.)
  • Project file association with AeroMIDI. You can double click an AeroMIDI project and it launches AeroMIDI. (You will need to manually associated .aeromidi files with AeroMIDI)
  • Double click a cube to bring up its properties.
